About Frisson

Frisson is an extreme metal band from Pristina, Kosovo. It was formed in 2013 by singer and guitarist Ilir Brajshori and drummer Lum Havolli, and the line-up was completed by guitarist Galdon Reçica and bassist Shpetim Smolica. The members named the band after the goosebumps that metal, their favourite music, gives them.

Frisson recorded their debut album, Exit Denied, when they were only sixteen, and it came out in 2015. Havolli has explained the title: "Because there are no new bands, and the ones that exist have difficulties to go out and show themselves." Songs such as "Madness", "Vendetta", "Blind", "681" and "Omega" come from that record.

In 2016 the band won Rock Per Rock, an annual battle-of-the-bands contest in Kosovo. In June 2017 they played after the Swedish band Adrestia at Termokiss in Prishtina, before pausing their live shows while one of the guitarists studied in America. That year Kosovo 2.0 called Frisson one of the few bands keeping the Kosovar metal scene alive.

In December 2018 they closed the Resist Winter Gathering, a small private show of punk and metal bands in Fushë Kosovë, with Sotap and Shlem also on the bill. The reviewer heard death metal, black metal, very technical metal and some groove metal in their set, compared Ilir's voice to early Dave Vincent and Chuck Schuldiner, and wrote that Frisson were "regarded a legendary band already". On 1 January 2019 the same bands played together at Termokiss.

The second album took longer than the spring 2019 date announced at the time. Does This Blood Speak was released on 1 February 2025 on Defy Them Records, the independent label run by members of the veteran Kosovo metal band Diadema, with songs such as "Father", "It Calls To Me", "Confessions Of An Addict" and "Mechanical Mindset".
