Flare

Flare was a pop rock band from Zagreb, formed in 1998 around singer Anđa Marić and her brother, guitarist Jerko Marić, who wrote most of the lyrics and music. The band was formed and based in Zagreb, and that is why it is on Muzika-Balkan under Croatia. Its name is the English word for a torch.

Flare released one album, Srebrni, in 2000, on Dallas Records and Croatia Records. It carried the title song "Srebrni", "Dimom u oči", "Pustinje", "Nova doza", "Zaista", "Ostajem jaka", "Posljednja želja" and "Čekanje", and closed with the English song "Waiting".

In 2001 the band won the Crni mačak award "Najveća nada" for the best new group and the Porin for the best new performer of the year. On 28 January 2001 it was chosen to open for Duran Duran at Dom sportova in Zagreb.

The line-up was Anđa Marić on vocals, Jerko Marić on guitar and backing vocals, Vlado Markovčić on bass, Mario Luketa on guitar and Mario Tarle on drums. Croatian Wikipedia now writes about the band in the past tense and lists its website as inactive, but it gives no year for the end. The playlist is the album Srebrni, with its two music videos.
