About Vlasta Popić

Vlasta Popić was a punk-noise-pop trio from Varaždin, formed in late 2007 by Tena Rak on drums and vocals, Ivan Ščapec on guitar and vocals and Dražen Hižak on bass, whose place was later taken by Dimitrij Petrović.

After playing regional demo festivals in 2010, they put out the self-released EP Najjača ultimativna mašina za ubijanje. Their debut album, Za očnjake, followed in 2012 on the Serbian label SKC Kragujevac and appeared on many regional end-of-year lists; critics often compared it to the Serbian band Repetitor. It holds "Vampiri", "Promjena", "Pokret", "Djeca" and "Ema".

In September 2013 they went on their first European tour, through Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany and Poland, followed by a three-week tour of Western Europe, and at the end of 2013 they released a live album recorded at a sold-out concert in Zagreb's Klub. In September 2014 they played the Waves showcase festival in Vienna and Bratislava on their third European tour, and within three years they had played around 200 concerts in the region and in Europe.

The second album, Kvadrat, came out on 28 January 2015 on Moonlee Records, co-released with Austria's Numavi and France's Voxproject. Announced by the single "Ako nisam dobra", it was darker, noisier and more ambitious than the debut, with lyrics in Croatian. Since the autumn of 2015 the band has been on hiatus. The playlist here is their debut album, Za očnjake.
