About Stribog
Stribog is a Croatian black and folk metal band from Zagreb, formed in 2006 and named after the Slavic god of the wind, sky and air. The band is on Muzika-Balkan as a Croatian band founded in Zagreb, and Croatian Wikipedia still gives Zagreb as its home.
Their songs are built on old Slavic mythology, mixing the harshness of black metal with folk melodies, and since 2013 their line-up has included a flute, played by Dunja Zbiljski. The first recording was the demo Za vječan ponos i čast in 2006, followed by the compilation Zora nad zemljama slavenskim in 2007, the year they opened for the Finnish folk metal band Korpiklaani in Zagreb.
The early years brought many line-up changes, with singers and keyboard players such as Mario "Knez Svitogor" Bošnir, Borna "Void" Žeželj, Ana Ćapalija and Robert Perica coming and going. The first full album, U okovima vječnosti, came out in 2010 on the Czech label Murderous Productions. That same year the singer Tomislav "Arioch" Živković and the guitarist Ivan "Mrva" Mrkoci joined the core of Nikola Mrkša on guitar, Sergej Šimpraga on bass and Darko Ćosić on drums.
Their second album, Tvoje kraljevstvo zeleno, followed in 2020. Its launch concert at the Vintage Industrial Bar in Zagreb, planned for 15 April 2020, was cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic. The playlist here is the band's own channel, with songs from both albums, among them "Tvoje kraljevstvo zeleno", "Dom", "Zora", "Morana" and "Pred morem olujnim".
