Rok'n'Band

Rok'n'Band is a Slovenian pop rock band, founded in 1995 by the singer Rok Ferengja, who still fronts it. The band draws its inspiration from the music of the 1950s, and the songs of Elvis Presley became a big part of its repertoire.

The first three songs went out to radio in 1996, and the debut album, Da padeš dol, followed in 1997. That year the band entered EMA, the Slovenian selection for Eurovision, with "Jagode in čokolada" and finished third with 2,226 telephone votes. The winner was Tanja Ribič, and Rok'n'Band went with her to the Eurovision Song Contest as her backing vocalists.

An album a year followed: Kako me mika (1998), V nevarni fazi (1999) and Brez dvoma (2000), and in 2002 the collection Največji uspehi. The hits of those years include "Vedno bom le tebe ljubil", "Rad jo imam", "Nika", "Novo leto" and "Ostani še minuto". In 2002 the band went back to EMA with "Slika brez pozdrava" and finished tenth.

Then Elvis came to the front. The album Elvis je živ came out in 2004 and Tribute to Elvis in 2005, and one of the band's Elvis concerts, in Portorož, was recorded as a live album. In 2006 Rok'n'Band sold out the large hall of Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana. In January 2012, marking the band's fifteenth anniversary, Ferengja sang at the Grand Hotel Union with members of the TCB Band, the group at the core of Elvis Presley's band from 1969 to 1977, on their first visit to Slovenia.

Ferengja has also had success on his own: at Slovenska popevka 2010 he won first place in a duet with Katja Fašink. Today the band is Rok Ferengja on vocals, Blaž Črnivec on lead guitar, Bruno Domiter on drums, Erik Čebokli on bass and Blaž Jurjevčič on keyboards. The playlist gathers Rok'n'Band's songs, from "Čisto tvoj" and "Elvis je živ" to their versions of Presley classics.
