About Red Five Point Star

Red Five Point Star, or RFPS for short, is a Slovenian ska-rock band from Trbovlje, founded in 1998 by the cousins Uroš and Jernej Grahek. They started as a punk rock trio, soon brought in ska, swing, rockabilly and surf rock, and grew into a six-piece. They call their own sound "dirty ska".

The early years were spent in clubs, at festivals and on compilations. In 2001 the band reached the finals of the competition Kdo bo osvojil Triglav?, and in 2006 they played Val 202's unplugged show Izštekani. Their debut album, In Color, came out in 2005 on Kapa Records, and from then on they played abroad as well, in Germany, France, Italy and across the Balkans, opening for well-known ska bands such as The Toasters and Fishbone. In March 2006 they joined four other bands on the month-long Exchange Tour 2 through France, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia.

The second album, Stepping Out, followed in 2007, and early in 2009 the band spent a month touring South Africa, where they later returned a second time. Their energy caught the eye of Robert "Bucket" Hingley, frontman of The Toasters and head of Megalith Records, who invited them on a European tour with his band.

In 2011 Megalith Records released Worst Case Scenario in the United States, while Kapa Records issued it at home, and Red Five Point Star toured the eastern United States with The Toasters for their 30th anniversary. At the end of that year they received the Zlati zidak award for the highest climb on the chart. A concert album, Live at Trnfest, had come out in 2010.

Their YouTube channel also holds a big-band session with Big Band Vrhnika, with songs such as "Trbowska", "Nova revolucija" and "Girl from the Moon" and covers of The Toasters and Elvis Presley, and the newer song "Dajte nam glas".
