About Omega Sun
Omega Sun is a Slovenian heavy rock band from Koper, founded in 2013. They play stoner doom metal with a strong pull of psychedelic rock, heavy and fuzzy, and name Kyuss and Unida among their influences.
The band started out in the second half of 2013 as an instrumental group, and in December that year released an instrumental rehearsal demo with two tracks. In early 2014 the singer Igor Kukanja joined, making them a quartet, and their first song with vocals, "Early Morning", came out digitally on Bandcamp in 2014.
After a turbulent 2017 they recorded their first full-length album, Opium for the Masses, as a power trio at Ostudio 6 in Nova Gorica, and presented it in December 2017 at CMK in Koper. The second album, Roadkill, was recorded at the same studio in 2022, with Žan "Cigo" Brešan as engineer, and mixed and mastered by Kukanja himself. It was released on 8 September 2023 by the Croatian label No Profit Recordings and later came out on vinyl, CD and cassette. Its six songs are "The One", "Black Dust", "Survive", "Another You", "Early Morning" and "Doomer".
Omega Sun have played at home and abroad, sharing stages with Dopethrone, Unida, Kylesa, Nebula, Stoner Kebab, Yawning Man and Three Eyes Left, and have also played the Metaldays festival.
Today the band is Igor Kukanja on vocals and, since 2017, bass, Aris Demirović on guitar, with the band since its first days, and Jure Vučko on drums since 2024, after Sebastjan Vrbnjak, the drummer from 2013 to 2024. The playlist has their videos, live recordings from Koper, Ljubljana's Kino Šiška and Germany, and the whole of Roadkill.
