About Oborri
Oborri (The Yard) is an alternative rock duo from Pristina, made up of Tomor Kuçi and Arbër Salihu. The two write, play, record and produce their music themselves, sing in Albanian, and mix guitars with synthesisers, programming and the odd flute or ukulele-like guitalele.
Their debut album, Oborri, has fourteen songs, from "Gjuj me dritë" and "Kangë janari" to "Pranvera", "Shpia ka mbetë vetë", "Qeni jem" and "Po zihet supa". It was recorded at their own studio SHYT, with the drums done at Studio C, mixed and mastered by Kuçi, and released with Dit' e Nat' in Pristina. "Karrigat" was written by Migjen Kelmendi of Gjurmët and recorded with the band Taste2, and Genc Salihu of Cute Babulja, Arbër's brother, helped with the mixing and co-wrote "Oh, more djali i nonës".
Kosovo 2.0 greeted the debut in October 2016 as a colourful soundtrack to the animated projections of our collective memory. A 2019 paper at the UBT conference in Pristina suggests that Oborri followed Cute Babulja both in its music and in its quiet humour and parody. The duo made videos for several of the songs, among them "Qeni jem", dedicated to the memory of a dog called Ringo, and "I vjeshtun", and has shared clips from touring around the Balkans.
