About Nola

Nola is a Croatian rock band from Pula, founded in spring 1993 by singer Gabrijela "Gabi" Galant and guitarist and songwriter Marijan Jelenić, who tell their own love and life story in their songs. Bassist Dean Vitasović and drummer Robert Slama complete the line-up.

In 1994 they released their first recording, a cassette single simply called Nola. The 1995 album Dio tebe left a deep mark on Croatian radio: its title song, with a video directed by Mauricio Ferlin, became a kind of love anthem. Osmijeh followed in 1997, with the title single and "Sami u Sali", dedicated to the village of Sali on Dugi otok. In 1998 Gabi won the Crni mačak journalists' award as rock singer of the year.

Then, against all expectations, Nola took a long break; Marijan and Gabi married in 1999. They came back with the album Iznad oblaka in 2009. Its title song became a radio hit straight away, was named hit of 2009 by Croatian Radio and won the Porin for song of the year, and the album was nominated for six Porins. The mayor of Pula honoured the band for its contribution to the city's music, and it received the Istriana award for music.

Nola Piano (2012) brought their songs with piano alone and was nominated for the Porin for pop album of the year. The singles "Na obali", "Nikad" and "Drukčije" followed between 2013 and 2015; "Moj svijet" (2016) made the top ten of the year-end Top 40 and was one of the ten most played songs of the year. In June 2017 Aquarius Records released the EP Negdje između. Later videos include "Imam tebe", "Kišobran", "Ne traži od mene" with Elvis Stanić, "Na drugoj strani" and "Oprosti".
