About Neki To Vole Vruće

Neki to vole vruće is a Croatian pop rock band from Zagreb, founded in the mid-1980s by Silvestar Dragoje "Šomi" and Miroslav Stanić "Đimi", who have always been the heart of the band. Around them a long list of musicians has come and gone over the years, among them bassist Davor Črnigoj, keyboardists Krešimir Klemenčić and Julije Njikoš, guitarist Vedran Božić and drummer Dražen Scholz.

The debut album "Neki to vole vruće" came out on Jugoton in 1985, with "Californija" and "Medu moj i šećeru", both written by Alka Vuica, and "Reci da". "Jeans generacija" (1986) followed with its title song and "Teška vremena", both with lyrics by Stevo Cvikić, and Marina Tucaković also wrote lyrics for the album. "Kakva noć!" (1988) and "Kad lavina krene" (1989) completed the Jugoton years, and in the early 1990s the first three hits came back as crodance singles.

On "Ljubavne priče" (1993, Croatia Records), almost all the lyrics were written by Zlatan Stipišić Gibonni, and the album gave the band "Bojler", the ballad "Zagrli me nježno" and "Nudiš mi razloge za kraj", which won the expert jury's first prize at the Zagreb Festival in 1993. In 1995 Đimi left for a solo career, releasing "Dobra večer, to sam ja" and "Dođe mi…", while Šomi carried on with the singers Kristina Schwarz, Kristina Škoti and Branka Delić, one of the first Croatian girl groups. "Boja noći" (1997) brought its title song and "Opasan plan".

The live album "Live tvornica" came out in 2005, and Šomi and Đimi are once again together as a duo. On 20 October 2023 they filled Tvornica kulture in Zagreb to celebrate 35 years, playing for more than two hours with saxophonist Ivica Premelč among the guests and Šomi's daughter Domenika singing "Opasan plan", and they premiered "Prolaze dani", which had spent weeks in the HR Top 40's top 20.
