Miladojka Youneed

Miladojka Youneed was a Slovenian alternative rock band, active from 1985 to 1998. Its members called their sound free-punk-jazz: saxophones, a loud rhythm section and guitar, somewhere between punk, funk and jazz. Elsewhere the style has been labelled pop-core, acid-metal and synthetic trash.

The core of the band was singer and bassist Miroslav Lovrič, Mario Marolt on tenor saxophone, clarinet and keyboards, drummer Danijel Dadi Kašnar and guitarist Boris Romih, with Urban Urbanija on alto and baritone saxophone. Several came from other bands: Marolt from Marcus 5, Kašnar from Martin Krpan and Videosex, and Romih from Begnagrad. Over the years the line-up also included bassists Igor Ožbolt and Jožef Sečnik, guitarists Kristijan Cavazza, who died in 1991, and Nenad Krsmanovič, and drummer Roman Ratej.

The debut, Miladojka Youneed, came out on FV Škuc in 1986. Helidon then released Ghastly Beyond Belief! (1987), Bloodylon (1990) and Liberta Bloo (1993), the album with their version of Kraftwerk's "Pocket Calculator". A live album followed in 1995, and the last studio album, Schizophonik, came out on Dallas Records in 1998, the year the band ended.
