About Leonart
Leonart is a Slovenian pop rock band from Maribor. It was founded in 2012 by musicians who had each played many stages on their own, and it is fronted by the singer and guitarist Sebastijan Lukovnjak, who also sings with the swing band The Swingtones and works as a music teacher and puppeteer.
The band introduced itself with a run of singles, each with its own video: "Nora noč" and "Podoknica" in 2014, "Nov dan" and "Moje mesto" in 2015, then "Pojem zate", "Vroč poljub" and "Danes me ni" in 2016. They all went onto the debut album Visoko v nebo (2016), ten songs including "Dim nad mestom" and "Povabi me na ples". The same year Lukovnjak tried his luck at EMA as a solo singer with "Tales of Tomorrow".
The second album, Vrh sveta, came out in 2020, produced like the first by Martin Bezjak. Its ten songs include "Divji ritem", "Pot do zvezd", "Iskre v očeh", "Jezdim", "Do morja", made with Tomaž Gajšt and Blaž Korez, and "Daleč stran", a duet with Bilbi. One of its singles was nominated six times for the song of the week on Radio Val 202, where the band also played "Moje mesto" live in the studio. Most of the lyrics are written by the guitarist Andrej Knehtl.
Leonart regularly sells out its acoustic concerts in Maribor's old Sodni stolp tower. In May 2026 the band presented its third album, Čisto na izi, with ten songs led by "Izi" and "Naprej", the first song written by the drummer Marko Brvar. It was released digitally and mixed and mastered by Martin Bezjak, and the band was already writing for a fourth album. The current line-up is Sebastijan Lukovnjak, Andrej Knehtl, Marko Brvar and the bassist Gašper Kundih, who replaced Martin Počkar; Tine Brglez played keyboards on Vrh sveta.
