Hellcats

Hellcats is a hard rock and heavy metal band from Ljubljana, the first all-female metal band in Slovenia. It was founded by the sisters Saša Zagorc on bass and Sonja Zagorc on drums, who write both the music and the lyrics. Saša had studied classical guitar and Sonja the flute before she moved to the drums.

Their first single, "Heavy Metal", came out in early 2010 and went onto the Hellcats EP in 2011. The first album came in two languages: Divja pot (2013) in Slovene and Warrior Princess (2014) in English, produced by Davor Kontić at Conti Studio and released independently. Its video "Now Is My Time", filmed in Ljubljana, went into rotation on MTV Slovenia. Further videos followed with "Divja pot" and "Steelrider" (2012), "Prerojena" (2014), "Sanjam demone" and its English twin "Demon Dreams" (2015), "Naprej" and "I Am" (2016), and "Črna burja" and "Black Thunder" (2023).

The band has played Metalcamp in Slovenia, Viva la Pola in Croatia, Metal Franconia in Germany and Jelen Demofest in Banja Luka, and toured Russia. The Zagorc sisters also founded Dan Rock Žena, the first Slovenian festival of all-female rock bands, held in Ljubljana around 8 March.

With guitarist Mia Marinič and singer Sara Simeunović, the current line-up, Hellcats released the EP Unstoppable in 2025 with the videos "Spiderweb" and "Unstoppable". Earlier members include guitarist Katja Mavec and singer Ajda Kovačič.
