About Chateau

Chateau is a Slovenian rock band formed in 1986 in Velenje. It first drew attention at the Pop delavnica festival in 1987 with the song "Ne laži mi". In 1989 guitarist Miro Mramor joined, having left Šank Rock the year before; at the start of 1991 he was replaced by Zvone Hranjec, who had also just left Šank Rock.

From then on things moved quickly. In 1991 Chateau made its name with "Objemi me", which won Pop delavnica, and the song gave its title to the 1992 album Objemi me. After the debut Tvoje oči (1990) came Avantura (1993) and Mlinar na Muri (1994). The title song "Mlinar na Muri", a version of "Boat on the River" by Styx, was a big radio hit and later became a kind of evergreen of Slovenian music. Other hits of those years were "Pobegniva", "Gremo v nebo", "Tanja", "Avantura" and a cover of the Kinks' "Lola".

In 1996 singer Matjaž Ograjenšek and bassist Sandi Ževart left; bassist Boštjan Časl and singer David Davidovič, known as Dadi Daz, took their places, and the band finished the album Brez tebe. Chateau played its last concert in December 1999.

In 2008, after almost ten years, the original line-up got together again, and the reunion brought the album Do konca in 2011, the year of the band's 25th anniversary, after which it stopped again. A renewed Chateau released its seventh studio album, 2023, on Dallas Records on 17 November 2023, with a new recording of "Mlinar na Muri". A new version of "Objemi me" followed in April 2025 and the single "Grem naprej" in March 2026. Singer Matjaž Ograjenšek and guitarist and singer Zvone Hranjec are back in the line-up, with Gregor Plamberger, Tim Draksler and Boris Jelenko.
