About Ženevski dekret

Ženevski dekret is a Bosnian hardcore punk band from Mostar, formed at the end of 1984. They started out under the English name Genevan Decree, taken from the talks on nuclear arms that Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev were holding in Geneva at the time, and soon became Ženevski dekret in their own language.

They began as a thrash trio, inspired by the bands of the day. The line-up kept changing, and with it the sound, from thrash through melodic hardcore to punk rock. The first demo was recorded in 1986 in Ljubljana, in the studio of Borut Činč, with songs such as "Mostar", "Novi dan", "Mali mozgovi", "Protest" and "Strah od života". The second followed in 1988 at the Vougue studio in Sarajevo: "Neću da budem dio jebene mase", "Sadašnjost", "Ubijam te", "A bili su tako lijepi" and a version of the Ramones' "Chinese Rocks".

In the second half of the 1980s their songs went round the Yugoslav underground on tape compilations from Ljubljana and elsewhere, among them Čudeža ne bo (1986) and Divlji cvetovi (1987), and in 1990 they appeared on the compilation LP The Return of Yugoslavia.

In 1996 three members met by chance in Sweden, and in March 1997 they recorded the album Deset godina (Ten Years). The band has stayed active since: Anarchist came out in 2021, with "Narodna pjesma" and "Covid ulice", and in 2022 the two early demos were collected as Protest 1986–1988. The same year the Swedish label Ne! Records, run by the band's singer and drummer Habi, released the seven-inch EP Alkohol, recorded in Mostar in 2020 and 2021, with a cover of "Grad" by the Ljubljana punk band Paraf.

The band's own channel, gathered here, holds the demos, songs from Deset godina such as "Zapadno od pakla", "Grad bez svjetlosti" and "Jesen", and live recordings of "Moja generacija".
