About Rok Agresori
Rok Agresori are a Macedonian rock band from Skopje, formed in 1991 by singer and guitarist Zoran Trpkov, known as Zoki Agresor, and drummer Toni Stankovski. Their songs mix rock and roll, punk rock and alternative rock with a good deal of humour.
The band made its debut in 1991 on Macedonian national television with "Vrati mi gi parite" ("Give me back my money"), whose whole lyric was that one sentence. It got people talking, and the audience was split between those who took Rok Agresori for a joke and those who heard a serious band. In 1992 they recorded "Jas smrdam na luk" and "Rok agresor oro", and in 1993 "Seksi leksikon".
At first they played as a duo. In 1993 bassist Risto Apostolov of the group Vodolija joined, and from 1995 to 1998 the bass was played by Sašo Zdravev-Lambe. The band appeared often on TV and radio and played concerts in towns across Macedonia. In 1994 they recorded an album in Belgrade that was never released because most of the recordings sounded poor, but they guested on several Belgrade radio stations and shot a video for TV Politika.
The debut album Ebena antikultura came out in 1996: a mix of socially engaged songs, songs about false morals and humorous ones, heard by most listeners as punk rock. Besides the early songs it held "Kurtoazija", "Meri" and "Baram ništo". The second album, Histerija (2001), started in the same spirit and ended with a few dark, depressive songs; the video for "Nikoj ne znae" was directed by Vladimir Petrovski-Karter, and "Večno isti gluposti" and the title song stood out.
In 2009 Trpkov wrote "Ding Dong", recorded it in Risto Apostolov's studio and took it to Skopje Fest, the Macedonian Eurovision selection. It went through the second semi-final in seventh place and finished eleventh in the final, and became the band's biggest commercial success. Rok Agresori returned to Skopje Fest in 2011 with "Kukuriku", which replaced a withdrawn entry and placed 15th of 20.
The third album, Agresor fiskultura, was released on 11 June 2012 with eleven new songs and four bonus tracks from the first two albums. Eight songs were recorded with musician and video director Aleksandar Ristovski-Princ, who played guitars and keyboards and arranged them, and three with Risto Apostolov; the title song got a new video.
